- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 4 cups chopped fresh green cabbage
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup good-quality tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 tsp Italian herbs (oregano, basil)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until fragrant.
- Increase heat to medium-high, add ground beef, and cook until browned (about 5–7 minutes).
- Stir in chopped cabbage and tomato sauce; cook for an additional 5 minutes until the cabbage has slightly wilted.
- Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
