With that in mind, we decided to get creative and give this tri tip an edge. Lots of people know how to grill tri tip, but the conventional means don't always satisfy the crew at Kosmos Q. We slammed this tri tip with a sear on both sides in mere seconds and from then on it was bathing in butter until it came up to temp.

After we opened up this perfectly pretrimmed tri tip we hit it with our Texas Beef rub alone!
We seared the tri tip on the weber right over the coals. We had a big pile of lump charcoal burning to really get the heat going.
Once we were happy with our sear we finished the tri tip off in a bath of butter with savory herbs and garlic.
