- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup whole milk or cream
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir for 1 minute to thicken.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring continuously until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Let it simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
- While the gravy simmers, prepare mashed potatoes by mixing boiled potatoes with butter, milk or cream, salt, and pepper until fluffy.
- Serve the hamburger gravy generously over the mashed potatoes.
