- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- Sour cream (for serving, optional)
- Salsa (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in cumin, chili powder, and garlic powder; cook for an additional minute.
- Place a spoonful of the beef mixture and a sprinkle of cheese on each tortilla. Roll them tightly into burrito shapes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Carefully place chimichangas seam-side down and fry for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels before serving with sour cream and salsa on the side.
