- 1 lb fresh white fish (cod or haddock)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup lager beer
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 large russet potatoes
- Salt to taste
- Tartar sauce for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the batter by whisking together flour, baking powder, salt, and beer in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Coat each piece of fish in the batter and carefully fry for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Cut potatoes into fries, rinse under cold water, then fry in batches for 5-7 minutes until crispy.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
