Ingredients
Scale
- 4 bone-in chicken pieces (thighs and drumsticks)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Marinate the chicken: Pour buttermilk over chicken pieces in a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- 2. Prepare the coating: In another bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- 3. Dredge the chicken: Coat marinated chicken thoroughly in the seasoned flour mix. Shake off excess flour.
- 4. Heat the oil: In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5. Fry the chicken: Carefully place chicken pieces in hot oil without overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes per side.
- 6. Drain and rest: Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Let rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
