- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream (for topping)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3.4 oz vanilla pudding mix
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light.
- Beat in eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract until smooth.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to wet mixture; mix until just combined.
- Divide batter into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans before transferring to wire racks.
- Prepare custard by heating milk and pudding mix according to package instructions until thickened.
- Assemble pie: place one cake layer on a plate, spread half of the custard over it, and top with the second layer.
- For ganache, heat heavy cream to simmering point and pour over chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Pour over assembled cake.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
