Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add salt and gradually mix in flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for one hour.
- Punch down the dough, divide it into eight pieces, roll into balls, and shape into bagels by poking holes in the center.
- Boil each bagel in water with sugar for one minute per side before transferring to a baking sheet.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Spread cooled bagels with cream cheese before serving.
