Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 slices rye bread
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown (10-15 minutes).
- Shape the ground beef into four equal patties and season with salt and pepper.
- In another skillet over medium-high heat, cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until desired doneness; add Swiss cheese on top during the last minute to melt.
- Butter one side of each slice of rye bread. Assemble the sandwich with caramelized onions and the cheesy patty between two slices.
- Grill the assembled sandwiches in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Serve hot and enjoy!
