- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup bell peppers, diced (any color)
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Chop the onion and bell peppers.
- Sauté aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Cook the turkey: Add ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned throughout.
- Add spices & veggies: Stir in chili powder, cumin, oregano, and bell peppers; cook for about 3 minutes until well-coated with spices.
- Incorporate tomatoes: Pour in diced tomatoes with juices. Allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes to meld flavors.
- Serve & enjoy: Ladle into bowls or taco shells; top with cheese if desired.
