  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into oval patties about 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties until browned on both sides (about 4 minutes each).
  4. Remove patties from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add mushrooms if using; cook until softened.
  5. Pour in beef broth and soy sauce while scraping up brown bits. Bring to simmer; stir in cornstarch mixed with cold water to thicken.
  6. Return patties to skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes until heated through and flavors meld.
