- 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into oval patties about 1 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties until browned on both sides (about 4 minutes each).
- Remove patties from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add mushrooms if using; cook until softened.
- Pour in beef broth and soy sauce while scraping up brown bits. Bring to simmer; stir in cornstarch mixed with cold water to thicken.
- Return patties to skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes until heated through and flavors meld.
