- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and spray a baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- In one bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with Italian seasoning and grated parmesan. In another bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of water for an egg wash.
- Dip each chicken breast into the egg wash, then coat with the panko mixture.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear each chicken breast for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Place browned chicken in the baking dish, layer marinara sauce on top, then sprinkle mozzarella and additional parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden, ensuring chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
