- 1 lb ground beef (lean)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup beef broth (low-sodium)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about one inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each patty for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
- Remove patties from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté additional onion if desired until translucent.
- Add beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce to the pan; stir well and bring to a simmer.
- Mix cornstarch with water until smooth and add to the gravy; stir continuously until thickened (about 2-3 minutes).
- Return patties to the skillet, simmer briefly in gravy, then serve hot.
