Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup beef broth (low-sodium)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about one inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each patty for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove patties from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté additional onion if desired until translucent.
  5. Add beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce to the pan; stir well and bring to a simmer.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water until smooth and add to the gravy; stir continuously until thickened (about 2-3 minutes).
  7. Return patties to the skillet, simmer briefly in gravy, then serve hot.
