- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in granulated and brown sugars until smooth.
- Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then whisk in eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- If desired, mix in chocolate chips and spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
