  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Cream filling (pastry cream or whipped cream)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by warming the milk and combining it with yeast and sugar; let sit until frothy.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg; stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the risen dough to about ½ inch thick and cut into donut shapes.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C) and fry donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before injecting cream filling into each donut. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
