- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup shortcake or pound cake, cubed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare strawberries: Toss sliced strawberries with 1 tablespoon of sugar and set aside to release juices.
- Make whipped cream: In a cold mixing bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Assemble trifles: In serving cups, start with a layer of cake cubes, followed by a layer of strawberries, then a dollop of whipped cream. Repeat layers until cups are filled.
- Chill: Garnish with extra whipped cream and a strawberry slice on top. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
