- 6 medium apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for crust)
- 1 pre-made pie crust or homemade equivalent
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Peel, core, and slice apples into thin wedges. Toss with lemon juice.
- In a bowl, mix apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and flour.
- Roll out the pie dough and fit it into a pie pan.
- Fill with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Roll out the second dough layer; cover or create slits for ventilation.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
