  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté minced garlic in melted butter until fragrant.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
