  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Cook the ziti in boiling salted water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; simmer until heated.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with salt and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the cooked ziti in the baking dish, followed by half of the meat sauce, dollops of ricotta mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
  6. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese; cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
