  • 12 oz ziti pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook ziti in salted boiling water until al dente; drain.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, then mix in the marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine cooked ziti with ricotta cheese, half the mozzarella, Italian seasoning, and salt.
  4. Layer half of the pasta mixture in a greased baking dish, top with half of the meat sauce, then repeat layers.
  5. Finish with remaining meat sauce and sprinkle parmesan and mozzarella on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden.
