  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 6 oz chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round 9-inch cake pans and dust with flour.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and softened butter until crumbly. Gradually add milk and eggs while mixing until smooth.
  3. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pans before transferring to wire racks.
  4. For the custard filling, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened (about 5–7 minutes). Stir in vanilla extract and let cool.
  5. Assemble the cake by layering one cake on a serving plate, spreading half of the custard on top, then adding the second layer and topping it with the remaining custard.
  6. Melt chocolate chips with heavy cream until smooth; pour over the assembled cake allowing it to drip down the sides.
