  • 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 box vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually mix in the sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in milk and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare custard according to pudding mix instructions using half the recommended liquid; chill until thickened.
  7. For ganache, heat heavy cream until steaming. Pour over chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  8. Assemble by layering one cake with half of the custard, topping it with the second cake layer, remaining custard, and finishing with ganache.
  9. Chill for at least an hour before serving.
