Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time while mixing; then alternate adding dry ingredients with milk until the batter is smooth.
- Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the custard filling, heat milk and vanilla in a saucepan; in another bowl, whisk cornstarch and sugar before gradually mixing into the warm milk until thickened.
- For the ganache topping, heat heavy cream until simmering, pour over chopped chocolate, stir until smooth, then let cool slightly.
- Assemble by layering cake, custard, cake again, custard again, and drizzling with ganache.
