- 1 cup light or dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until fluffy (3-5 minutes).
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden around the edges but still soft in the center.
- Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
