- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter with brown and granulated sugars until fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough on lined baking sheets about two inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden, but centers remain soft. Let cool on the sheet for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
