Ingredients
- 3 large yellow onions (about 1.5 lbs)
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and slice the onions thinly for even cooking.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and olive oil until bubbly.
- Add sliced onions and salt, stirring gently to coat.
- Reduce heat to low and cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden brown.
- If desired, sprinkle sugar during the last 10 minutes for added sweetness.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving or storing.
