- 1 cup long-grain rice (Jasmine or Basmati)
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional mix-ins: sautéed veggies or cooked chicken
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until clear.
- In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice with water and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender.
- In a large bowl, mix cooked rice with butter, cheddar cheese, and milk while warm until melted.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; stir well.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, top with extra cheese if desired, and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
