- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until a soft dough forms; reserve about one cup of dough for topping.
- Press the remaining dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- In another bowl, mix pitted cherries with sugar until evenly coated. Pour this mixture over the pressed dough.
- Crumble the reserved dough over the cherry filling.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown on top; let cool before slicing.
