- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh basil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Pound the chicken breasts between plastic wrap to about ½ inch thick.
- Set up a breading station: one bowl for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs.
- Coat each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sear the breaded chicken until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side.
- Arrange the chicken in a baking dish, spoon marinara sauce over each piece, and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
