  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely before frosting.
