- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely before frosting.
