- 1 ripe avocado (mashed)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for spreading)

Instructions
- Gather all ingredients.
- Slice thick pieces of sourdough bread.
- Mash the ripe avocado in a bowl; season with salt and pepper.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side, layer mashed avocado and top with shredded cheddar.
- Close the sandwich and grill in a medium-heated skillet until both sides are golden brown (about 3-4 minutes per side).
