Ingredients

  • 12 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp dried Italian herbs (oregano and basil)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté minced garlic and chopped onion in olive oil until fragrant (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef, browning it while breaking it up. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and dried herbs; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with an egg, salt, pepper, and grated Parmesan.
  6. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
  7. Top with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before slicing.
