- 4 medium Russet potatoes (about 1.5 lbs)
- 4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 tsp sea salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Potatoes: Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut into thin strips about ¼ inch thick.
- Soak: Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Heat Oil: In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F.
- Fry: Carefully add soaked potatoes in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain & Season: Remove fries with a slotted spoon, place them on paper towels to drain excess oil, and sprinkle with salt while hot.
- Serve: Enjoy your crispy fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
