Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Mix in molasses and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes wrapped in plastic wrap.
- Roll out to 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface; cut into desired shapes.
- Bake on parchment-lined sheets for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm.
- Cool completely before decorating.
