Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water until dough holds together. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- Prepare Filling: Combine chopped fruit with sugar and cinnamon or sauté vegetables/meats for savory options.
- Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll chilled dough to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles (4-6 inches wide).
- Fill and Seal: Place filling on one half of each circle. Fold over the other half and press edges with a fork to seal.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush tops with egg wash if desired. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
