- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced (about 1 tbsp)
- Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness of about half an inch.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one for seasoned flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with parmesan.
- Dip each chicken breast in flour, then egg, followed by breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sear each breaded chicken breast until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Place chicken in a baking dish; top with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
