  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice
  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
  • Sesame seeds or mung beans (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Steam the soaked rice in a cheesecloth-lined steamer over simmering water for about 25-30 minutes until tender and sticky.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir until dissolved without boiling.
  4. Transfer the warm rice to a bowl and mix half of the coconut sauce into it gently.
  5. Slice the mangoes into thin pieces while the rice absorbs the sauce.
  6. To serve, place a scoop of sticky rice on each plate alongside mango slices. Drizzle with remaining coconut sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
