Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
- Sesame seeds or mung beans (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Steam the soaked rice in a cheesecloth-lined steamer over simmering water for about 25-30 minutes until tender and sticky.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir until dissolved without boiling.
- Transfer the warm rice to a bowl and mix half of the coconut sauce into it gently.
- Slice the mangoes into thin pieces while the rice absorbs the sauce.
- To serve, place a scoop of sticky rice on each plate alongside mango slices. Drizzle with remaining coconut sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
