- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder (Dutch-processed)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (sliced) or strawberry jam
- 1 cup whipped cream (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease three 9-inch round cake pans with butter and dust with flour.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients while alternating with milk until combined.
- Divide the batter into three bowls: mix vanilla extract into one bowl, cocoa powder into another for chocolate flavor, and leave the third as is for vanilla.
- Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.
- Assemble by layering chocolate first, followed by vanilla, then strawberry or jam on top. Frost generously with whipped cream.
