Instructions
- 1. Sauté Onions: Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until translucent (about 10 minutes), stirring occasionally.
- 2. Add Flavorings: Stir in onion soup mix and thyme; cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- 3. Pour in Broth: Gradually add beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pot for flavor. Simmer gently for 15 minutes.
- 4. Prepare Bread: Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and top with cheese. Broil until golden brown (3-5 minutes).
- 5. Serve: Ladle soup into bowls, float cheesy baguette slices on top, and sprinkle with extra thyme if desired.
