  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and thinly slice russet potatoes (about 1/8 inch thick) for even cooking.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices. Season with salt and pepper, then drizzle half of the heavy cream over the top.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on top of the first layer. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, seasoning, cream, and cheese.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
