  • 4 soft flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup diced ripe tomatoes
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup salsa (your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and tools: mixing bowl, spatula, skillet, or griddle.
  2. In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into four loose balls (about ¼ lb each) and set aside on parchment paper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with cooking oil until shimmering. Place patties in the skillet and press down firmly with a spatula until they're about ½ inch thick.
  4. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top and cover briefly to melt.
  5. Warm tortillas on another skillet for about 30 seconds per side until soft.
  6. Assemble tacos by layering shredded lettuce on each tortilla, followed by smashed burger patties topped with melted cheese, diced tomatoes, and salsa.
