- 8 oz whole wheat spaghetti
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1 medium onion, diced
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, parsley, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion until translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Shape the meat mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and sear them in the skillet until browned on all sides (4-5 minutes per side).
- Add crushed tomatoes to the skillet with any leftover herbs and simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Reserve some pasta water for consistency.
- Serve spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce.
