  • 8 oz whole wheat spaghetti
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, parsley, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. Shape the meat mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and sear them in the skillet until browned on all sides (4-5 minutes per side).
  4. Add crushed tomatoes to the skillet with any leftover herbs and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Reserve some pasta water for consistency.
  6. Serve spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce.
