- 12 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 oz canned whole tomatoes (or crushed)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes), then add minced garlic.
- Increase heat slightly, add ground beef, cooking until browned (7-10 minutes). Break up large chunks with a wooden spoon.
- Stir in canned tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; bring to a gentle simmer.
- Allow sauce to simmer on low for at least 20 minutes.
- While sauce simmers, cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain, reserving some pasta water.
- Toss spaghetti with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for desired consistency.
