- 1 package (15 oz) angel food cake mix
- 12 large egg whites (room temperature)
- 2 cups ripe strawberries (sliced)
- 1 cup heavy cream (for whipped cream)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for macerating strawberries)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an ungreased tube pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the angel food cake mix with water; beat until smooth.
- Gently fold in room-temperature egg whites until no streaks remain.
- Pour the batter into the tube pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and springy.
- Invert the pan onto a cooling rack to cool completely before removing the cake.
- While cooling, sprinkle sliced strawberries with sugar and let sit for 15 minutes to release juices.
- Once cooled, slice the cake into layers and alternate with whipped cream and macerated strawberries on a serving platter.
