- Active dry yeast
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Whole milk
- Large eggs
- Unsalted butter
- Cream cheese
- Fresh strawberries
- Ground cinnamon
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- Warm 1 cup of milk and mix in 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast and 1/4 cup of sugar. Let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Create a well and add the yeast mixture, one beaten egg, and 1/4 cup melted butter. Knead until smooth (about 8 minutes).
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- For the filling, blend 8 ounces softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup granulated sugar until smooth, then fold in 1 to 2 cups chopped strawberries.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, spread the filling evenly, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (1/4 cup brown sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons cinnamon), roll tightly into a log shape.
- Slice into equal pieces (12 to 15) and arrange cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar mixed with milk while cooling slightly.
