- 1 lb fresh strawberries
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash and slice the strawberries, mixing them with 2 tablespoons of sugar; set aside to macerate.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter until smooth; gradually stir in milk.
- Fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour batter into a greased round cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once cooled, slice the cake in half horizontally; layer with strawberries and whipped cream before topping with the second half.
