  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix sliced strawberries with sugar and set aside to macerate.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add softened butter and milk to dry ingredients; mix until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. Whip heavy cream with vanilla until soft peaks form.
  7. Slice the cooled cake in half horizontally. Layer one half with sugared strawberries and whipped cream, top with the other half, and repeat layering.
