  • 4 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds. Place them upright in a baking dish.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until golden brown. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Stir in ground meat until browned, then mix in cooked rice and half of the tomato sauce. Season to taste.
  5. Spoon the mixture into each pepper generously, topping with remaining tomato sauce and shredded cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; remove foil during the last 10 minutes to achieve a golden crust.
