- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually mix in sifted flour and baking powder alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour.
- Stir in vanilla extract gently until just combined.
- Divide batter between prepared pans and smooth tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
