- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup fresh basil (optional), chopped
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook until golden brown, careful not to burn.
- Add canned tomatoes, crushing them gently with your hands as you pour them in.
- Season the mixture with oregano, salt, and pepper; stir well.
- Let it simmer for at least 20 minutes to meld flavors.
- If desired, add chopped fresh basil before serving.
